Link Popularity Building
The term link popularity building has always struck me as incorrect. Popularity just sounds kind of redundant to me. Amassing links is building your link popularity? I dunno, I just don’t like it.
In fact I think that it’s usually someone who is new to seo that calls seo link popularity building. I just get that feeling. I never hear experienced seo’s talk about link building popularity. We talk about link building and different techniques but the word popularity never comes up even as a throw away term.
There for I’m going to guess that if you are reading this post because you wanted to know something about link popularity building, that you are probably a beginner seo. So what should a beginner seo learn about link building then? How about where to get links.
There’s lots of places to leave your links! For starters try article marketing. You just write an article which will have your links in the resource box, and submit it to 100 directories or so. Google wont count every link because some article directories just shuffle your article to some deep page that will never get crawled or cached. But you will get links this way. Consider it a layer.
Then get another layer of links from directories. There are thousands of directories that will let you submit a link for free and there ya go! Free one way backlinks. It obviously helps if you have a list of article directories and directories as it will cut down on time. Even better is to have software that automates all or most of it.
Then work on your link popularity building by commenting on blogs and leaving your link. Try to leave anchored links all the time. The challenge with this method of link building is that bloggers are fussy about it. They will often delete your links if you leave an anchored link. They may even spam your link with askiment. Since everyone uses askimet to fight comment spam then once askimet thinks your url is spam, your comments will automatically start going straight to the spam folder.
Bookmarking sites will provide you with another layer of links. Again, there are just tons of these places out there. The trick is to have a big list that you can just refer to over and over. Either that or get some bookmarking software to do it for you.
Those four layers of links should give you enough link popularity to rank for some longtail keywords.
